Abstract:As the building industry"s demands continually escalate, there is a heightened focus on the economic viability, practicality, and sustainability of housing. The spotlight on prefabricated structures, given their alignment with eco-friendly and cost-effective construction practices, has led to intensified international interest. Since 2015, China embarked on an ambitious journey to vigorously promote the adoption of prefabricated buildings. Nonetheless, this progression has been hampered by a trio of challenges: inadequate professional knowledge among personnel, a dearth of cutting-edge technologies, and less than optimal construction site conditions domestically. Consequently, the expansion of the prefabricated building sector has progressed at a sluggish pace with substantial costs incurred. This paper delves into the cost analysis of prefabricated buildings, elucidating their developmental landscape. By intertwining pertinent case studies with an examination of four pivotal cost control elements, it elucidates the multifaceted determinants shaping the economics of prefabricated construction. Ultimately, the discourse advocates for efficacious strategies such as standardized designs, meticulous component management, and rationalized transportation methodologies. These measures aim to mitigate the financial implications on prefabricated building projects, thereby fostering a path toward more economical, efficient, and environmentally sustainable construction practices.
