Abstract:The steel penstock, as the core load-bearing and pressure-resistant water conveyance structure in long-distance water conveyance tunnel projects, has manufacturing and installation qualities that directly determine the safety, stability, and long-term operational efficiency of the hydraulic engineering. Supervision work permeates the entire process of the steel penstock, encompassing raw material procurement, factory manufacturing, anti-corrosion treatment, on-site installation, welding, and testing. It serves as a crucial link in ensuring the project quality complies with design and code requirements. Based on the example of a large-scale water conveyance tunnel project (involving various pipe diameters, with a maximum of DN5200), this paper systematically elaborates on the key management points and practical experience of hydraulic engineering supervision in steel penstock manufacturing supervision. It covers content including raw material and process control, manufacturing and installation process monitoring, comparison and selection of anti-corrosion technical solutions and quality control, as well as whole-process inspection and acceptance management. The paper constructs a supervision model characterized by "prevention-first, procedural management, and data-driven decision-making," aiming to provide systematic management and technical references for supervision work in similar projects and contribute to enhancing the construction quality level of steel penstocks in China"s hydraulic engineering.
